The Lisa Libraries donates new children's books and small libraries to
organizations that work with kids in poor and under-served areas.
The Lisa Libraries was started by author Ann M. Martin
and friends to honor and memorialize children's book editor Lisa Novak. Some
of the libraries established have been at day-care centers, prison
visiting areas for children of incarcerated parents, and after-school
programs. The Lisa Libraries supplements under-filled shelves as well
as provides books to many children who may never have owned a book
before. Since its founding in 1990, the Lisa Libraries has contributed over 300,000 books to
nonprofit organizations across the country.
Please donate new children's books. If you would like to contribute,
please send books -- new, "like new" or books in very good condition only, please!- ages pre-K to young adult,
to: The Lisa Libraries, 77 Cornell St, Rm. 109, Kingston, NY 12401.
Monetary donations can be made by sending a check made out to
"The Lisa Novak Community Libraries" to the same address or
by clicking the secure online donation "Donate" link on the left.
In general, the Lisa Libraries has a strong interest in supporting small, grass-roots
organizations. As a matter of policy, the Foundation makes grants only to organizations that
do not discriminate against people seeking services or employment based on
race, sex, religion, age, sexual preference, or physical ability.
